Microsoft¿ Internet Mail and News 3.0 for Macintosh¿
---------
Welcome
---------
Thank you for downloading Microsoft Internet Mail and News.
Internet Mail and News lets you communicate with others on the Internet through electronic mail and newsgroups. Electronic mail, or e-mail, lets you exchange messages and files with other people on the Internet. Internet newsgroups consist of messages by individuals, organized by topic. You can take part by posting a message of your own, responding to a message, or sending an e-mail message directly to the author of a message.

New and Improved Features

General features

Ñ Internet Mail and News is now threaded. You can send and receive mail and news messages in the background while you continue to do other tasks.
Ñ Sending and receiving mail from the Internet are now separate commands.
Ñ Internet Mail and News now uses an ActiveX control to display images within the message window. To take advantage of this feature, you will need to increase the memory allocated to Internet Mail and News by 1 to 2 MB. To increase memory, click to select the Internet Mail and News application icon, and then choose Get Info from the File menu.
Ñ Improved toolbar takes up less space and has tool tips.

sent, mail received, no mail, and mail error.
Ñ You can search for information in headers and message content, over multiple folders, using the Find command.
Ñ The number of unread messages within a folder is displayed beside the folder name.
Ñ You can set up protocol helpers so that when you click a link in a mail message, such as http://, the assigned application will start and display the file.
Ñ Internet Mail and News is now more closely integrated with Internet Config and works with the preferences file for Internet Config directly. You no longer have to select whether or not you want to use Internet Config. Any settings you change in the Internet Mail and News Preferences dialog box automatically go to the Internet Config Preferences file. If you currently use the Internet Config application, you can continue to do so and the changes you make will automatically appear in Internet Mail and News.
